The Beginning

When I started @ladylawyergang on Instagram I wasn't exactly sure where it would go. I love fashion, especially professional fashion, and I wanted to help ladies aspiring to go to law school, in law school, or young lady lawyers like myself love professional fashion as well. I started ladylawyergang because it's the Instagram account that I wish I could have followed when I was in college and in law school. I want to help young women build chic and sustainable professional wardrobes that won't break a budget.

So when COVID-19 struck and the "Quarantimes" set in back in March I had more time on my hands. So at the very beginning of April I texted my trusted group of law school besties (of course our text thread is called "Lady Lawyers") and pitched my IG idea. They immediately supported me and were so excited and enthusiastic. Within a day ladylawyergang was born.

My idea was simple--take photos of my work outfits everyday. I'm lucky to have a cute book shelf in my office that works as a professional-looking back drop. As I started posting I wasn't sure how much traffic the account would get. I started seeking out other lady lawyers and lady law students to try and grow a community. I met some really awesome fellow lady lawyers who are now becoming my friends. Now I receive messages from lady law students telling me how they appreciate my account and how it's helped them or inspired them. As I gained more followers, I got the idea that it might be fun to create some "merch." I set a goal for myself to release some when ladylawyergang reached 1,000 followers. I'll talk about my merch journey in another post, but now that I've started creating merch I definitely want to continue.

So what's the future of ladylawyergang? Definitely more fashion. My goals are to make professional fashion fun for the professional lady. I'm planning to create some type of guide to building a professional wardrobe that is budget friendly, sustainable, and chic--i.e., clothes you actually want to wear! So stay tuned for more merch, more outfits, and new tips and tricks.
